not too twee

...once upon a time (two months ago to be precise) I was asked to put together a litle collection of place cards - 'the brief' - haberdashery, but not too twee, vintage influence preferably with a feel of the 60's, bright, cool-clean-sharp and lots of colour - as much colour as possible!!!
...I didn't want to post these images until Libby was married, but now she is Mrs Reeves, so here's the end result, the card print is from The Embroidery Collection and we have added these fabulous printed floral wooden buttons that have been sewn onto the card with embroidery yarn. And, we are so pleased with them, we have decided to add them to our range. If you would like to see a sample please let me know which colour from the photo's here - it's pot luck from our 'lucky bag' of buttons by the way, as there are lots of different designs. You can also have the underneath of the place card printed in a bright colour of your choice too!! Prices from £2.00 per place card (this includes your guest's name)...

my 1950's kitchen

...my Janet Hill prints arrived this morning, from Canada, my goodness I am a very happy lady. Just need to find the time to frame them now...I've had to place them back in their wallet as I can't stop looking at the detail and falling in love with the colour and yet again dreaming about my 1950's kitchen...

hand picked

...meet Betty, she is a 38 year old, pretty,
little ditsy dotty Bedford ice cream van...
...meet Hayley, she is a gorgeous, retro loving, ice cream scooping
kinda gal who cherishes and looks after Betty...
...so imagine suprising your guests when they meet Betty and Hayley, all dressed up in their poshest frock and prettiest bunting, at your reception. Stocked with plenty of delights from locally produced dairy ice cream, favourite ice lolly flavours, traditional glass bottled drinks and olde shoppe sweets....
...so go ahead and book the prettiest ice-cream van you will ever dream of meeting...I'm first in the queue for a rum and raisin cornet, a cherry brandy ice lolly, lashings of ginger beer a quarter bag of sherbert pips while listening to Secret Love by Doris Day...while reminiscing being a little girl chasing the ice cream van down the road as it chimed Que Sera Sera...

just spent my pocket money for the week

...today has been a productive day, not only in printing, cutting, assembling, packaging, but also in spending money...
I have been collecting images in my little black clip file for ohhh approx 2 years now of kitchens - 50's/eclectic inspired, ....we are saving our pennies to extend and create a kitchen living space 10 times larger than what we currently have, as our kitchen is currently the size of a shoe box - a lovely shoe box though - and I have just bought 2 prints from the extremely talented Canadian painter Janet Hill. - heavy wooden free standing units, pantry curtains, enamel coated pots n pans and a whistling kettle...it doesn't take much to make me happy..
...Janet has a shop over at Etsy - and I am sure, like me, you will not be able to resist a print or two or three or four or....
