french farmhouse

Just browsed upon photographer Jasmine Star and her wonderful french farmhouse shoot. I love the crisp white linen and the fresh green artichokes and herbs - perfect - and the elegant use of natural tones, simple glass and polished cutlery - fine cotton napkins with a sprig of rosemary and vintage wirework chairs............................

jam jar collecting

Jam jars a great and affordable way of bringing a bit of the country to table decorations - these are from Live Laugh Love and you could make simple arrangements from a selection of flowers and foliage from your garden.

Here's another example of bringing the warm tones of oranges and apricot roses and stocks displayed within a decorated jam jar with wrapped twine - so simple but works wonderfully with the tones of greens within the table setting. The detail of the simple fern stem and the layering of the vintage silver, glassware and crochery adds even more interest to the table.

rubekia

Can't believe it has been over a week since my last posting! I've been collecting images over the weekend to show you - to hopefully plant a little seed to start your journey of inspiration, especially if your wedding is not until next year and you are busy collecting images, filling up files and scrap books or overloading your computer with saved images. If you have been following this blog for a while you will know that we have a love for all that is vintage and floral. We have been helping clients this season to achieve their own personal twist. We have produced seating plan cards where the client has then framed them individually in vintage frames, or threaded them onto a ribbon washing line like bunting. Individual tags have been made to tie onto sprigs of thyme to act as place cards and around terracotta plant pots as table numbers. We have also encouraged and worked with brides to grow their own flowers - sweet peas, geraniums, beautifully fragrant night scented stock in little vintage pots, which we then dressed with place cards and table numbers.......we love to work with your individual ideas and help make them come to life!!

So our planting tip for next year (I have already planted mine!) is rubekia (see above), tones of yellow will be a striking trend for 2010/2011, we are already receiving a high level of sample requests in varying tones. Rubekia is wonderful if you are wanting to achieve a free spirited country feel, and it grows in abundance, so lots of blooms to be picked.

back to work

...just returned from a wonderful (but wet) weeks holiday in the Cotswolds, such a beautiful part of the country. We rented the most perfect thatched cottage and spent days meandering around national trust properties, hiding under chestnut trees whenever it rained.

So back to work....I have just opened an email from a client who has sent me photos of her seating plan and I thought I would share the idea with you. As clients are having to cut costs where posibble we now offer to supply just the seating plan panels unmounted, this allows you to mount them either yourself (to save a little on your budget) or to make a more personal statement and use eg vintage frames or hang them on ribbon etc.... ideas are endless. Here are a couple of photos from Alison's day where she mounted her panels onto co-ordinating card that was then mounted onto a vintage mirrored frame. I have also included some pics of recent plans. The rose colour was produced for Catherine who had named her tables after all of the Hawaiian Islands, so we included a map into each panel to help bring her theme together, the final image is from the Vintage Rose Collection in Olive.....
