untangling the fairy lights
...how many of you, like me, have been dusting down decorations, untangling fairy lights and trying to calm excited children this weekend...we have two trees, 'the diary tree' - full of decorations collected over the last 15 years and the girl's tree that is covered in all things that girls love under the age of 6 .... so this evening will be spent re-arranging and then re-arranging the re-arranging, I forgot how exhausting preparing for Christmas was....I also bought (far too many) paper snowflakes from RE this year. Which have managed to creep into the studio to complete the mood...

warmth of summer in december
Just working my way through each collection on the web site, and starting to consider new colour palettes for next year and beyond. Trying to feel the warmth of summer in the middle of a north east winter wind - even more dramatic as I live near the coast - and more troublesome as I feel incredibly festive even though I have just dipped my toe into December....... Still loving the colours embedded within the petals of dahlias, which I have recorded from last years crop, and still in constant search for anything vintage that can be transformed into a vessel.....

french corsage in linen

...I have just finished compiling my 'to do' list for next week and, before I start my weekend, thought I would post these images taken in the studio. The design is from the French Corsage Collection - Linen, we have produced the place cards with a vintage trim on the corner and finished with silk ribbon. The underside of the cards have been printed in a dark grey. All of the collections can be tweeked to add a more personal touch. A striped ribbon on a colourful print, a decorative corner trim, an additional colour can all help personalise your collection. We would love to hear your ideas and requests...Sunday, 8 November 2009
wedding magazine
We thought we would start to feature the odd press cutting here and there as we have taken out the Press Page from the main site as it was difficult to upload on a regular basis. So here is one of the latest as featured in Wedding Magazine - December/January issue (page 46). We are thrilled that the stationery was chosen -

Therefore if you would like to vote for us in the Wedding Stationery category then simply select Vicky Trainor in the drop down list on the online voting form. We will need your help if we are to gain recognition in the awards and as we are a small bespoke company it is sometimes really hard to stand out against companies who have substantial marketing budgets!!!!!

We thank you in advance!!!

today in the studio
...the days are blurring into weeks again!! Just as I think the studio is going to slow down and I can get a bit of catch up time (especially with accounts, which I strangely and secretly love doing?!**_+?) the momentum picks up again (and I love it!!). Believe it or not, November is, normally, the quietest of months. However, even though we are supposed to be holding on to the speeding handles of the recession, we are enjoying a continued pace of orders, enquiries, and design requests.

sugar rush

...well, what an afternoon, working on the new collection ideas and playing around with possible new colour palettes for 2011/12 (the whole process always takes around 10 months which is why I have to work so far ahead!).... and found a lovely new way of working with colour in the form of a bean made out of jelly. Never new Jellybeans were so addictive, and of course, every time a colour line was produced it had to be tasted to ensure that it tasted as good as it looked. However, the colour palette that consisted of Toasted Marshmallow, Caramel Corn and Root Beer will definately not be contributing to the final collections. So from that point I decided it was time to play with colour using Photoshop and not my taste buds!......Saturday, 24 October 2009

calling all lovers!
Just wanted to inform you that our prices will be slightly increasing from Sunday 1st November 2009. We have clients, who are getting married next year, who have placed orders already so that they can take advantage of this years prices. We are able to do this if deposits are paid and funds cleared by 31st October 2009. You may not wish to receive your stationery until a more convenient time next year and we will store your order away until that point. If anyone would like to further discuss any of the above then please email me at info@vickytrainor.co.uk or telephone 01642 491087 and I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. We have managed to hold our prices for the last two years but now are having to react to the increase of card stock and ink from our suppliers.40 hours in a working day

vintage rose in vanilla

Here are a few photos taken in the studio last week from The Vintage Rose Collection in Vanilla. This collection works well through all the seasons as you can really work with the font and the colour of the font to create a collection personal to you. Vanilla & Lime , Vanilla & Turquoise, Vanilla & Flamenco Pink can all look perfect for that summer wedding........

the french patisserie
...thought this might interest those of you who are considering quite a dramatic theme. 'The French Patisserie' works wonderfully especially here where they have teamed their theme with a collection of strong tones of pink. Kristin & Chris have recreated a pattiserie cafe for the setting for their wedding reception...so just think with a little imagination and creative flair.............................

..............by the way - talking about french food you must go and see the film Julie & Julia, lots of 'vintage Parisian styling' alongside an 'eclectic Brooklyn apartment' and it makes you want to rush home and reconnect with your passion to cook and bake, bake and cook........and the eccentric portrayal of the famous cook Julia Child by Meryl Streep is simply captivating during every watching minute....... http://www.julieandjulia.com/

in the shade

Apologies, as I know it is hard to think about the warmth of the sun on your face, the heat of the day, the perfect mid day light filtering through the trees - but for those of you marrying next year then it is time to place those thoughts at the forefront of your mind and start planning, planning, planning....2010 is only around the corner and the months are warming up even earlier in the year. Here is the first idea of several that will be posted over the next few months on little twists to add to that summer wedding! We love the idea of having bright paper and fabric parasols to shelter your guests from the sun shine, even more perfect if you are marrying abroad...These vintage parasols and umbrellas in tones of terracotta are perfect with the powder blue and would look great in photos for autumn and winter weddings....

grandma's sewing box

As usual my weekend starts on a Saturday evening.....just packing away the last remnants of the day. It is a very rare occasion that we produce favour boxes but we loved the idea of these so much that we couldn't do anything but agree to go ahead. The clients brief was 'my grandma's sewing box', and inside the favour boxes are vintage styled sewing kits, one type for ladies and an other for the gentlemen, that she has made herself and each one contains a personal message to each guest. all in the detail

..simple twist to the normal guest book. Have your guests write their personal messages on hand made paper, here they have asked their guests to write what they think 'Love is to them ...' and then peg them out to read...you could then package them away in a simple box and bring out to read every anniversary...
...hand made vintage lace head band...source the lace and make your own!
...ice clear glassware against rustic findings for a natural elegant edge...
...natural tones of grey and sage with hand picked bouquets....
...bridesmaid dresses with interesting vintage prints and frills, perfect for the tea party twist (love the different coloured ribbon sashes)...
... brightly embroidered table cloths and randomly positioned vintage chairs with florals that appear to be arranged in a more spontaneous and impulsive way, as if just freshly picked from the garden...
...vintage glassware, hydrangaes and peonies.....Monday, 14 September 2009
french corsage with a natural twist

Just wanted to post these images so that you can see how you can incorporate a theme using one or more of the collections. These stationery pieces combine the French Corsage Collection with the theme of 'natural objects', email me if you would like prices or to discuss ideas of your own.......

ready for the autumnal months ahead
...I have been running around all week from day to day, starting to look at the images for the new collections ready for their introduction to the web site in November as well as the normal running of the studio...the new designs are starting to infiltrate through into the wedding magazines which is wonderful news and its great to receive positive feedback from those of you that have been requesting sample packs of late. The french corsage collection is a favourite this year particularly in vintage gold and chalk, some of you have even mixed the colours which has been fantastic to work with. For example, selections have been made where the placecards are a mix of vintage gold for the gentlemen and linen for the ladies, we have also produced mixes of the porcelain collection this month in oatmeal & blue and handpainted slate. So have a look at the site and see how you could select your own personal eclectic mix. The blossom and rose collections work well together particular of you are trying to achieve a county garden theme....here are a few images of the porcelain and fauna collection and a further glimpe at the new linear collection.....

linear collection
...its been a busy week, as usual, and I've just finished the last sample pack and it's finally time to close the studio door and let the weekend start, even though it is a Saturday. Currently working on images for the web site update at the beginning of November where the new collections for 2010 and 2011 will be launched. We are now starting to notice in the studio that the colder seasons are arriving as the collections we are working on for clients become more rustic and wintry in colour. Enjoy the weekend.............

french farmhouse

Just browsed upon photographer Jasmine Star and her wonderful french farmhouse shoot. I love the crisp white linen and the fresh green artichokes and herbs - perfect - and the elegant use of natural tones, simple glass and polished cutlery - fine cotton napkins with a sprig of rosemary and vintage wirework chairs............................
